Conagora was born as an independent civic initiative based in Spain, with a European outlook. After seeing how public debate about Islam in Europe had become dominated by noise, political trenches and taboos, we decided that a different space was needed: a place to face reality openly, ask uncomfortable questions without fear, and rely on data and evidence.
Why we do this — and why independently
Being an independent project, free from external constraints and commitments, gives us our greatest strength: we owe nothing to anyone.
We do not work to fuel controversy or to please any particular group. We are here because we believe that liberal democracy, equal rights and freedom of conscience — the right to believe whatever you choose, or not to believe at all — cannot be taken for granted. They must be defended every day through serious arguments and rigorous analysis.
A growing network
Our goal is not to walk alone. We aim to be a meeting point and a living network. That is why we collaborate with independent analysts, researchers, journalists and citizens from across Europe who share a common concern: protecting individual freedoms and peaceful coexistence in the face of all forms of extremism.
We believe that knowledge belongs in the public sphere, not only in university offices. If you also believe that solving major problems requires less noise and more common sense, you are in the right place.
